Duties

Help
  • Manage the command Vendor Threat Mitigation program to reduce risks to forces, missions, and commercial support across the United States Southern Command area of responsibility.
  • Develop command Vendor Threat Mitigation policies to implement applicable laws, Department of War directives, and supply chain risk management requirements.
  • Assess vendor risks to identify threats to contracted commercial support and determine appropriate mitigation measures before contract award.
  • Lead the logistics and intelligence fusion working group to integrate threat information into vendor risk assessments and operational support decisions.
  • Integrate Vendor Threat Mitigation requirements into joint plans, orders, exercises, and logistics annexes to improve operational readiness.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a Security Clearance at the TOP SECRET/Special Sensitive Level as the incumbent will be required to access, process, use, and safeguard classified National Defense information.
  • Position requires travel up to 25% of the time.
  • This is a "Key" position and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Must be exempt from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must file an annual Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
  • Incumbent may be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays during exercises, crises, and contingency operations.
  • Incumbent must complete required training in vendor threat mitigation, supply chain risk management, and operational contract support.
  • If assigned a cyber workforce role, must meet applicable cyber qualification and continuing professional development requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) applying Department of War vendor threat mitigation, operational contract support, and supply chain risk management requirements to commercial support activities; 2) analyzing vendor, threat, and intelligence information to develop risk assessments and mitigation recommendations for contracting decisions; and 3) coordinating vendor threat mitigation requirements with contracting, logistics, intelligence, and operational planning stakeholders to support mission readiness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
