About the Position: This position is the Deputy Chief of Operations Division and the Senior navigation and recreation expert for the Mississippi Valley Division. Independently responsible for providing and implementing policy guidance consulting assistance and staff coordination.

The duty location will be determined upon selection and can be at any of the 4 Districts listed above within MVD. Not eligible for full time telework.

Help
  • Reviews and devises strategies to adapt national programs to the Mississippi Valley Division.
  • Evaluates and develops policy and implementation proposals for Navigation and recreation programs.
  • Coordinator for HQUSACE for testing, reviewing, and devising strategies to adapt national programs to the region.
  • Oversees inspections of installations for environmental compliance with existing laws and policies.
  • Makes recommendation for additional measures or corrective actions where appropriate.
  • Makes decisions, interpretations, and recommendations which may significantly change or expand implementation of navigation, recreation and dredging.
  • Participates with headquarters in evaluation activities, field analysis, development and implementation of the official USACE positions on implementation of various USACE proposals.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Analyze Civil Works Navigation programs and/or project requirements; Provide technical guidance on Navigation and recreation management program and policies; and Develop policy guidance for Navigation, recreation, dredging and channel management.

For this job, you must meet both the Basic Requirement and the Specialized Experience requirement--no substitution of education for specialized experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Education
