Duties

Help
  • Independently isolates difficult malfunctions using specialized diagnostic procedures to test instruments.
  • Performs complex component replacements, recalibrations, and system repairs following established technical orders.
  • Applies detailed technical data from multifaceted blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical orders.
  • Executes multi-step operational alignment tests to certify system compliance.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment/gear.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment and yearly physical required.
  • Must obtain Contracting Officer Representative (COR) certification successfully and annual training for support of supply operations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds during normal operations.
  • May be subject to a one-year probationary period, however previous service may be creditable IAW 5 CFR 315.802.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.


Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience performing the following duties 1) Analyzing technical data to troubleshoot malfunctions in complex electro-mechanical systems; Performing component-level repairs on electronic systems and assemblies; and 3) Interpreting complex technical documentation, such as schematics, engineering drawings, or technical specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
