About the Position: This position serves as the Navigation Support Specialist for the Big Sandy Area Office located in Louisa KY. You will provide a variety of support services essential to the direction and operations of the area office. You will serve as the primary POC for all personnel actions at the Area Office serves as a liaison between the Area Office Managers/supervisors/employees and the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC) Staff.

  • GS-05 Responds to basic inquiries from employees regarding standard administrative procedures.
  • GS-05 Maintains local office personnel and training records, ensuring required documentation is filed correctly.
  • GS-05 Inputs financial transactions, obligation requests, and work items into established tracking systems based on explicit instructions.
  • GS-05 Assists in extracting standard monthly financial reports from automated systems and compiles basic Excel spreadsheets for review by higher-graded analysts or managers.
  • GS-07 Reviews personnel action requests for accuracy and completeness before routing them.
  • GS-07 Serves as a point of contact for employees to resolve standard administrative issues
  • GS-07 Consolidates budgetary data from various standard reports to track obligations against planned schedule
  • GS-07 Reconciles minor financial discrepancies, prepares routine draft funding documents, and assists in the preparation of regular budget reviews by identifying variations between planned and actual expenditures.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and /or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes: Inputting and tracking basic administrative or financial data into databases or spreadsheets; Responding to routine customer service inquiries or routing administrative requests; and Filing and maintaining electronic or physical office records in accordance with established guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR

Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Experience as described above, but less than one year; and have some education above the high school level but less than required above. You must compute the percentage of the requirements, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Specialized Experience GS-07:One year of specialized experience which includes: Reviewing and processing standard personnel, travel, or administrative actions for compliance and accuracy; tracking budget expenditures and reconciling routine financial records using automated systems; and Drafting basic correspondence, tracking spreadsheets, or training logs to support program operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05)

Specialized Experience GS-09:One year of specialized experience which includes: Coordinating diverse administrative operations, including acting as a liaison to process complex personnel actions, onboard new staff, and monitor employee training plans; administer program budgets by establishing obligation schedules, developing funded work items, and evaluating monthly expenditures; and resolving administrative or budgetary discrepancies to ensure compliance with organization-wide policies and internal controls. .This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

  • Applicants may be selected at the GS-05, GS-07, or GS-09 level. This is a developmental position up to the full performance level, GS-09. Noncompetitive promotion to the full performance level is authorized.
