Duties

Help
  • Serves as the Command Security Specialist and Security Subject Matter Expert, responsible for authoritative information and service for the Personnel Security Program as it applies to U.S. Army Medical Command and its subordinate activities.
  • As the Foreign Disclosure Representative, coordinates specific disclosure actions for the disclosure of Classified Military Information to foreign government representatives in support of approved U.S. Army international programs.
  • Security Specialist for the Information Security program. Interprets security regulations and directives promulgated by Executive Orders, DoD Directives and regulations, Defense Intelligence Agency, Dept. of the Army, and Army Medical Command.
  • Reviews and approves Contract Security Classification Specifications for contracts involving classified information to ensure compliance with DoD Industrial Security Regulations.
  • Reviews operations security procedures in order to deny adversaries information about facility capabilities.
  • Develops Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection policies and procedures and upon approval implements and/or oversee the actions and activities.
  • Organizes, creates, executes physical security plans, policy and evaluates its effectiveness throughout the command.

  • May require temporary duty (TOY) travel up to 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • A pre-employment physical is required, and periodic physicals may be required.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has been identified as being a Key Position under the provisions of AR 690-11, Mobilization Planning and Management.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85.
  • This position is designated Tier 5, Critical or Non-Critical Sensitive, High Risk and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance Level as a condition of employment.
  • May be required to work overtime/irregular schedules or extended hours due to exercises, national special security events, or during national security crises.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience Requirement: One-year specialized experience which includes processing personnel security clearance actions and background investigations; ensuring proper safeguarding, marking, and storage of classified materials; delivering security trainings and briefings; and developing physical security and access control procedures for facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
