Duties

Help

  • Plans, develops and validates Readiness Training supporting the deployed mission of Force Support personnel. Gathers and develops information by researching factual materials through available sources including AFI and subject-matter experts.
  • Assesses Program effectiveness. Consistently assesses overall program effectiveness by sampling student, instructor, and commanders' needs, validating suggestions and complaints.
  • Represents AFPC Personnel Operations Division and Readiness Branch with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with the Air Staff, MAJCOMs, AFPAAS Development Agencies, Military Personnel Flights and PERSCO Teams.

  • Will be required to work shifts, weekends and overtime in support of 24-hour operations of the Air Force Personnel Readiness Cell (PRC)
  • May be required to travel by military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • This is a key position. Incumbent must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available
  • The incumbent may be required to take part in test alerts and practice exercises. Mobilization-key position is a key position under the provisions of AFI 36-202, civilian mobility

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Example of specialized experience includes: (1) Utilizing Department of Defense, Joint personnel accountability policy, programs, systems and procedures; (2) working with personnel readiness programs, processes, practices and systems; (3) performing systems acquisition and program management roles and responsibilities; (4) working with personnel readiness systems capabilities in Deliberate and Crisis Action Planning and Execution Segments (DCAPES), and Global Command Control Systems(GCCS); (5) working with tools used to query the personnel readiness systems including writing queries and generating output in multiple-user formats.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Extensive knowledge of personnel management policies, procedures, and practice relative to personnel readiness and accountability.

2. Working knowledge of Deliberate and Crisis Action Planning and Execution Segments (DCAPES) and commercial programs such as Lectora, Camtasia, Adobe Acrobat write, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel andAccess.

3. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with leadership, individuals, heads of service agencies and their representatives.

4. Skill in adapting and extending applicable education principles and methods in identifying exemplary and inadequate practices or techniques and recommending alternative steps or remedial action to resolve problems.

5. Ability to develop, implement, and manage programs, systems and procedures to include publishing guidance and instructions in support of force accountability spanning the operational spectrum.

6. Ability to plan and organize independently and to collect, interpret and analyze data. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and clearly present issues and recommendations to all levels.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
