Help

As an Administrative Officer, the incumbent is responsible for providing and obtaining a variety of management and administrative support services essential to the direction and operation of the office. The Administrative Officer also serves as the senior advisor on all administrative and management support matters. Depending upon the size of the assigned office, the incumbent may perform support services for field offices under the Office of Inspections and Evaluations.

Typical assignments include:

  • Direct, coordinate, and oversee the full range of administrative management programs for the Office of Inspections and Evaluations (OIE), serving as the principal administrative authority and senior advisor to OIE leadership on all administrative, resource, and operational support matters.
  • Serves as the senior administrative advisor to OIE leadership, providing expert guidance on administrative, budgetary, personnel, space, procurement, and operational support programs that directly affect mission execution. Advises on administrative requirements and independently evaluates operational impacts, participates in developing and implementing administrative programs, and recommends alternative courses of action where existing policies do not fully address organizational needs.
  • Plays a key role in long-range administrative and resource planning, advising leadership on staffing models, space requirements, funding projections, and administrative infrastructure necessary to support evolving oversight priorities.
  • Provides advice and recommendations, both orally and in writing, on administrative matters and advises on the administrative feasibility of operating plans, suggestions, and proposals, including the identification of risks, resource constraints, and alternative implementation strategies. Works with management to develop plans for additional positions and/or equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level, if you have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience at this level includes:
1) Performing administrative support functions to include serving as a timekeeper; examining travel documents using Federal Travel Regulations; property management; other administrative services.
2) Researching and analyzing appropriate regulations, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform administrative support functions.
3) Analyzing and evaluating existing administrative processes, evaluating alternative solutions, and recommending appropriate courses of action.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
