Help
  • Supports the Inventory Management and Logistics Management Specialist in his/her responsibilities for directing, developing, or performing logistics management operations that involve planning, coordinating , and evaluating.
  • Assists the Logistics Management Specialists with controls and coordination of storage, shipping and receiving. Processes and manages shipping and receiving of multi-million-dollar IT equipment.
  • Serves as logistical liaison for supply activities. Reviews/validates requests for equipment and supplies to ensure compliance and applicable authorization documentation.
  • Coordinates with contractors ad suppliers to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the material receipt, warehousing, storage and turn-in, and the issue of supplies, equipment, and material required to support the mission.
  • Ensures accuracy, completeness, and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and regulations. Controls shipping of outgoing equipment and supplies. Ensures proper internal controls.

  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as mission indicates.
  • Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
  • May be required to remain on duty or report for duty during national emergency, severe weather, or other installation closings.
  • Must possess, and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
  • May be required to use cellular telephone and maintain a working telephone at all times.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a forklift operator's certificate.
  • A physical examination is required due to heavy lifting. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450.
  • Work is sometimes performed in settings where there is regular and recurring exposure to discomforts and unpleasantness such as high levels of noise and high temperatures in warehouses, or adverse weather conditions while transporting equipment.
  • The work may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel toed boots, hard hat and safety glasses when working in warehouse areas.
  • The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and similar activities in and around storage areas.

Qualifications

For the GS-9, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-7) within the federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-07 if outside the federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience providing operations support for supply/inventory activities; AND, experience researching documents or other resources to coordinate inventory requirements.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-7 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Education

GS-9 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply.

To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services at the time of application.
