Duties

Help

Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, the Supervisory Administrative Operations Specialist's responsibilities include overseeing the planning, direction and control of Agency-wide support programs in the functional areas listed below:

  • Emergency Preparedness and Personnel Security. Overseeing the administration of the COOP and emergency preparedness programs. Supervising the Personnel Security Officer, who serves as the subject matter expert and advisor on all matters relating to personnel suitability and security processing.
  • Property Management. Overseeing the administration of the Agency's accountable property program including: the Agency's Property Management System (PMS) and conducting periodic reviews of inventories and procedures for receiving, tracking and disposal of accountable property to ensure compliance with federal and Agency regulations, policies and guidelines.
  • Sustainability. Oversees the sustainability program to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement best practices.
  • Support Services. Oversees the management and administration of the Agency's support services related to mail, courier and transportation services, Agency vehicle control and supply room operations.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the VH-40 (GS-14) band level if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the VH-39 (GS-13) band level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to oversee the planning, direction, and control of Agency-wide support programs and activities such as emergency preparedness, personnel security, property management and mail and transportation services. Some examples of qualifying experience include overseeing the administration of the Agency's accountable property program.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Current and former Federal employees (including VEOA eligibles) must have served one-year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade in the Federal service to meet time-in-grade restrictions per 5 CFR 300, Subpart F, by the closing date of the announcement.
