Summary
You will serve as a Hydroelectric Mechanic with Bureau of Reclamation.
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region, Parker Dam Field Division, PARKER DAM,CALIFORNIA
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.

Performs work involved in maintaining, testing, and repairing all equipment in a hydroelectric powerplant and pumping stations.
Overhauls, repairs, evaluates, and performs tests on turbines, generators, motors, air compressors, pumps, pressure regulators, eductors, valves, pipes, penstocks, intakes, spillways, diversion dam, and waterway gates including appurtenant mechanical controls.
Operates the powerplant's Domestic Water Treatment Facility to include operation, testing of domestic drinking water, and obtaining grab samples for testing.
Monitors lab sensitive equipment and calibration of the equipment as well as the repair of mechanical controls, dismantling, reconstructing and fabricating parts as needed for the daily operation of the facility.
Operates heavy equipment to include mobile cranes, backhoes, boom trucks, dump trucks, tractors, and forklifts.
Performs welding tasks using gas welding equipment or electric welding equipment.
Operates overhead, mobile, gantry and jib cranes and performs rigging incidental to lifting, moving, dismantling, assembling, overhauling, and/or repairing hydroelectric powerplant and pumping plant machinery and related equipment. Uses technical drawings, specifications, and records to fill out required forms such as job hazard analysis, work plans, and special permits.
Plans work sequences, selecting tools, and materials needed to complete assignments.

Physical Demands: Incumbent exerts heavy physical effort and is required to lift 50 pounds or more at times. When necessary, uses lifting equipment. Incumbent is required to push, pull, reach, stand, crawl, kneel, bend, climb ladders, and work in cramped areas in, over, and around machinery, equipment, and facilities for sustained periods of time.
Working Conditions: Work involves several conditions including, but not limited to, working in cramped and awkward positions; on ladders and scaffolds; outdoors in extreme weather conditions; in confined spaces; around water; and from great heights. Performs a considerable amount of overhead work. Incumbent may be exposed to considerable noise; to greases, oils, fumes, smoke, dust, chemicals; and danger of falling. Incumbent may be subject to shift work and shift times are subject to be changed. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required in accordance with LCDO policy. Occasional travel may be required.
