The position serves as a Physical Security Specialist located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Security and Emergency Planning Staff (SEPS), Office of Information Safeguards and Security Oversight (OISSO). OISSO serves as the primary point of contact and principal adviser to the DOJ on all matters concerning the management of information as a critical DOJ resource.

The duties and responsibilities for a Physical Security Specialist, GS-0080-13 generally include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for planning, implementation, oversight, and assessment of secure facilities used for storage, processing, and discussion of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Ensures facilities comply with Intelligence Community security standards governing Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).
  • Designs, reviews, construction security oversight, accreditation documentation, inspection programs, and implementation of physical security controls protecting national security information.

  • You must be a current permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.

  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to hold a security clearance at the TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Physical Security Specialist, at GS-0080-13, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or equivalent band in the Federal service, which includes: Reviewing design, construction and/or accreditation of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility; Implements strict entry/exit protocols to individuals with proper clearances; and Utilizing physical security systems, to include Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), access control systems, CCTV and video surveillance or a security alarm monitoring system.

You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by 10/08/2026 of this announcement.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Once the announcement closes, a review of your resume and supporting documentation will be conducted by the HR Specialist. This information will be compared against your responses to the application questionnaire to determine your eligibility for Federal employment, and then whether you are qualified for this particular position.
