Serves as Chief of the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) performing duties for maintaining Defense Red Switch Network nodes.
Plans, coordinates, designs, and supervises system related relocations, upgrades, and installations. Responsible for the administration, diagnostic analysis and repair of the e Digital Small Switch (DSS-2A) and Peripheral Equipment.
Develops long-range plans for communications links to maintain and expand, where necessary, network coverage of the users.
Develops budget estimates and approves the allocation, distribution, and expenditure of financial resources for technical operations.
Evaluates and verifies the technical quality of signals sent via satellite and directly monitors quality at receiver locations to ensure satisfactory system operations.
Provides detailed technical analysis and evaluation of equipment problems.
Provides advice and assistance to senior level officials.
Establishes network operating standards for equipment and systems on the Command and Control Switching systems.
Supervises a staff of military and civilian personnel. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets priorities, prepares schedules for completion of work and assigns work based on priorities.
Evaluates performance of subordinates, provides advice, counsels and/or instructs employees on both work and administrative matters.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
Emergency Essential designated requiring you to perform the duties and requirements of the position in the event of crisis until relieved by proper authority along with additional medical requirements. This position requires a medical examination.
Note: Key and Essential are not to be filled by persons with military recall status (one who is in status of a Ready Reserve, Standby Reserve or is military retiree subject to recall active duty).
This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug testing screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
This position requires completing appropriate training/certification/recertification per DOW Publication 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, for each Cyber work role.
Cyber work role certification proficiency level requirements: Foundational qualification within 9 months; Residential qualification requirements within 12 months; and 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development
