DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives, counts, weighs, and checks items to ensure that the vendor has delivered the type and quality of items purchased. Accepts only items listed on approved purchase order receiving copy. Records quantity received on purchase order receiving copy, condition of items, and forwards completed document.
  • Places items in stockroom locations, stacking items in groups by commodity and size. Stocks empty spaces on shelves and neatly arranges the merchandise. Fills requisitions of activities and retains triplicate copy of the requisition in the storeroom to account for the issues. Forwards all signed storeroom requisitions to the supervisor at the end of each workday. Reviews stock levels with supervisor for adequacy and recommends disposition of slow-moving or dead stock items.
  • Assists in end-of-month inventories of stock by counting items and giving figures to supervisor. Ensures that the supplies and equipment are safeguarded and secure at all times; permits only authorized personnel in storeroom; during periods of absence, locks and secures all storerooms. Turns keys over to supervisor according to prescribed procedures. Maintains high sanitation standards and cleans storerooms and stocks regularly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Supervisor assigns work through written and oral instructions that are clear and concise. Work may be checked in progress or on completion for compliance and adherence to instructions and directives.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
  • Skill and Knowledge: Knowledge of methods used in receiving, storing, and issuing routine materials and equipment. Ability to organize, arrange, and remove stock. Skill in use of manual dollies, jacks and handtools associated with warehousing tasks.
  • Physical Effort: Lifting and carrying supplies, materials, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are moved with equipment or the assistance of other workers. Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Bends, stoops, and works in tiring or uncomfortable positions.
  • Working Conditions: Usually works indoors and occasionally outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold , drafty or poorly lighted. Exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and abrasions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
  • Must have experience in and knowledge of methods used in receiving, storing, and issuing routine materials and equipment.
  • Must be able to organize, arrange, and remove stock.
  • Skill in use of dollies, jacks, and handtools used in warehousing tasks.
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

What is NAF Employment?
NAF employment is considered federal employment. It is, however, different from federal civil service employment because the monies used to pay the salaries of NAF employees come from a different source. Civil service positions are paid for by money appropriated by Congress. NAF money, on the other hand, is self-generated by Air Force clubs, bowling centers, golf courses, and other activities that use NAF employees.
