Help

Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and provides administrative support;
  • Schedules and manages appointments;
  • Receives visitors and phone calls both for the service and refers to the appropriate social work personnel;
  • Communicates and assists the HCHV Program Coordinator and clinic staff;
  • Composes and prepares correspondence, forms, letters, memos, reports, computer-related data, specifications, and similar material;
  • Maintains office supplies and equipment;
  • Maintains and prepares hard copy and/or electronic files and records;
  • Monitors expenses, and recommends budget adjustments;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/08/2026.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:

  • Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant (Office Automation), GS-6 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: performing a full range of administrative support for an office; receiving visitors and phone calls; reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence; scheduling meetings; and utilizing office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Experience: Experience interacting with patents with serious mental health and substance abuse disorders.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
