This National Guard position is for a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5827200 and is part of the KS 184 Wing, National Guard.
Current and former military members of the Kansas National Guard. Former KS ANG members must provide a NGB Form 22 or 22A showing characterization as Honorable Discharge or General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions.
As an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-11, you will administer the Special Security Office (SSO) and all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)-associated security programs and measures and provides detailed research and analysis on physical, computer, and personnel security. Perform other duties as assigned.
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information clearance within one year of appointment.
May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of information security, sensitive compartmental information, and special security requirements.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. Ability to develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls. Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and expertise in information, personnel, and physical security to effectively implement, integrate and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs. Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work is primarily sedentary. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel for attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Some incumbents may carry light items such as papers, files or books, or drive a motor vehicle. The work does not require any special physical effort.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a classified work center, up to TS/SCI. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions.
