Help

  • Serves as project leader in the development of agency and/or interagency policy,procedures, regulations and supervisory guidance.
  • Develops capital regulations and interpretations governing capital markets related and trading and derivatives activities.
  • Evaluates complex securities and develops recommended actions for purposes of safety and soundness.
  • Performs financial and economic analyses to identify sources of capital markets risk in financial institutions that must be measured and/or monitored by the regulatory agencies.
  • Keeps abreast of trends and developments in the field of finance, economics and law related to financial institutions.
  • Keeps abreast of trends and developments in portfolio management and trading strategies utilized by financial institutions.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-15: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 14 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as (1) performing financial or economic analyses related to capital markets risks; (2) leading the development of policy related to capital markets risk management and regulatory requirements; and (3) providing recommendations or results of financial analysis and evaluation to stakeholders.

Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $257,500.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

If you are found qualified, you will be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified. These category assignments are a measure of the degree in which your background and responses to the identified assessment match the competencies listed below. Within these categories, candidates eligible for veterans’ preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans.

The assessment includes a cut-off score based on the minimum level of required proficiency in these competencies. You must meet or exceed the cut-off score to be considered, however, CP/CPS veterans who achieve at least a 70 are eligible to move forward to the next assessment even if they do not meet the BQ cut score. You will not be considered for the position if you score below the cut-off score or fail to complete the assessment.
