Summary

As a PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT, GS-0603-12, you will be the primary for administrative medical assessments and readiness functions. Use clinical skills and knowledge to complete comprehensive medical and physical assessments, and preventative medical services for assigned soldiers IAW with prescribed regulations, policies, and orders. Participate in Medical Retention Determination Point (MRDP) packet preparation, profiling, and Nonduty Related Physical Evaluation Board (NOR PEB) Narrative Summaries (NARSUM). Serve as investigation officer, or as a member of an assembled investigating team as the medical professional subject matter expert to assist in investigations, when fully trained. Provide limited leader responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements for all grade levels:
Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and re-certification.
Licensure
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one full year of work experience as a certified physician assistant equivalent to the next lower grade level and completion of an accredited physician assistant educational program is required.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
SPECIAL NOTE: Per the Merit Promotion and Placement Plan (MPP) if there are more than 15 qualified applicants for each position, by category, a KSA board will be convened in accordance with Chapter 4 of the MPP.

Education
Completion of Doctorate of Physician Assistant Studies, Doctorate of Science Physician Assistant (DScPA) or equivalent; or
Completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a related health field and completion of an accredited physician assistant educational program. Examples of related doctoral degree programs include, but are not limited to, public health; allied health field; public health education; or other related health science programs; or
