Help

The major duties of this position are to provide administrative support for Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. Such support includes but is not limited to:

GS-05 MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Budget

GS-06 MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Office Coordinator including answering the telephone, scheduling conference rooms, escorting visitors and coordinating building janitorial, maintenance and repair requests.
  • Payroll and Travel, receives and distributes incoming mail/packages and prepares outgoing mail/packages for delivery.
  • Maintains central filing systems and utilizes office computer software.
  • Performs and oversees supply functions including purchasing, receiving incoming supplies, materials and equipment and maintains office supply inventory.
  • Prepare division purchase requests for contracting and assists with budget functions including preparing expenditure transfers, reconciling payroll and performing labor adjustments.
  • Must be able to work independently with little on-site supervision.

GS-07 MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Applies procurement regulations and financial tracking procedures
  • Applies human resources policies and procedures, etc.
  • Applies computer applications software and peripheral equipment
  • Applies communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collect funds, prepare remittance reports and make deposits

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement - 10/02/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Competitive candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.

For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the work schedule requirement as the service dates will be reflected. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.

Selective Placement Factors: This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. If you do not provide evidence that you possess the following selective factor(s), you will be rated not qualified.

Selective Factor: Typing a minimum of 40 words per minute is required for this position. Applicants must self-certify their typing speed in their application package to receive further consideration for this position.

In addition to the Selective Factor, applicants must also meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this position:

To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing administrative functions (e.g., payroll, personnel, travel, and/or correspondence), using office procedures and equipment, organizing and analyzing numerical information, typing correspondence, memos, reports, and forms from rough drafts, and notes, answering telephone calls, filing, and meeting and dealing effectively with others. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four years of Education above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation, such as in business administration, recreation management, public relations, and/or communications, or that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in such subjects. You must include transcripts.

COMBINATION: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the percentage of education that you have completed toward meeting the full requirements as stated in the qualifying education listed above. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide it by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.

To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to that of the GS-05 level in the Federal Service. Examples of specialized experience includes activities such as: Answer questions/provide guidance to employees regarding leave and earnings statement, evaluate budget needs based on several factors including changes in programs, facilities, staffing, equipment and services, track fiscal data to reconcile for programmed accounts versus actual expenditures, analyze and evaluate fiscal data to reconcile programmed accounts versus actual expenditures, recommend reallocation of funds to accommodate changes in requirements based upon computerized data, verify time and leave balances, use an automated payroll system, assist in preparing performance standards and evaluations, properly hold and use a government charge card, review travel documents for accuracy and compliance with regulations, prepare travel authorizations and vouchers. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: One semester (9 semester credits) of post graduate education directly related to the work of the position (administration, business, finance, or contracting).

COMBINATION: Combination of education and experience. NOTE: When combining experience and education they should be computed as percentages of the overall requirements and must equal 100 percent when combined. Only education more than a four-year degree (bachelor's degree), which is directly related to the work of the position is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One half academic year of study (9 semester hours) beyond a bachelor's degree is equivalent to 12 months of specialized experience.

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: providing a wide variety of administrative support services to enable efficient operation of a business or program office; the independent operation of computerized information systems; tracking and reconciling fiscal data for programmed accounts versus actual expenditures; preparing and following up on purchase orders and contracts; administering payroll and time and attendance; preparing a variety of forms and other administrative paperwork; and performing property management work. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: One year (18 semester credits) of post graduate education directly related to the work of the position (administration, business, finance, or contracting), for which a bachelor's degree is the normal prerequisite.

COMBINATION: Combination of education and experience. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Pay will vary based on grade level and/or duty location for which you're selected. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) rate of 3% is authorized.

Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary.
