Summary
This position is located with the Aquatics Center on Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

United States (U.S.) Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
Serves as the Aquatics Program Manager responsible for the daily operation and supervision of aquatics, training and recreational programs, personnel, and classes at aquatic facilities.
Plans and coordinates details for reoccurring and nonrecurring aquatic, fitness, instructional, and joint community programs.
Plans and establishes an aquatic certification curriculum to include lifeguarding, lifeguard instructor, water safety and fitness instructor, swim lesson/meets, special events, clinics, and other certification and educational programming.
Responsible for NAF budget for assigned facilities and programs.
Develops and updates the Standard Operating Procedures for the aquatic facilities, programs and enforces policies.
Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required.
All certifications/authorizations must be completed within 6 months of employment and kept current.
A credit check is required.
A medical examination may be required.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Possesses demonstrated experience in planning, administering and executing aquatic programs. This experience may have been gained managing indoor or outdoor aquatic programs and facilities. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level. An undergraduate or graduate degree in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology may be substituted for six (6) months of the required work experience. *Transcripts must be submitted at the time of application if you are using education to qualify.
Ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment, and maintain, the following certifications:
American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid
CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED
Lifeguard Instructor (Red Cross)
Water Safety Instructor (Red Cross)
Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO)
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified" and referred to the hiring official first.
Water Safety Instructor Trainer (Red Cross) Certificate
Equipment Qualification (Demonstrated knowledge and ability to instruct patrons on the safe operation of exercise equipment, and perform basic maintenance and repair)
Fitness/Aquatics Instructor Certification (Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer or Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor)
Adapted Aquatics Instructor Certificate
Possess at least six (6) months or more of experience managing a FMWR or Government pool

This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
