Developing and conducting supervisor/employee-level Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) training.
Coordinating Safety and Occupational Health (S0H) training.
Developing safety regulations, guidance, policies, and standard operating procedures.
Conducting worksite inspections through identification of hazards, developing controls to mitigate hazards, and assisting project personnel with implementation of the controls.
Reviewing accident prevention plans, design reviews, and safety submittals.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

GS-11 Minimum Qualifications:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) assisting with safety and occupational health inspections; (2) applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures when dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; and/or (3) Identifying hazards in an industrial workplace. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-12 Minimum Qualifications:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) conducting safety and occupational health inspections, 2) applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements, and/or (3) implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, at the GS-12 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
