About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation on Dover Air Force Base.

This position is considered Regular Part Time. You are guaranteed 20 hours, however you could work up to 40 hours per week. As a Regular employee, you are eligible to earn annual leave, sick leave and sign up for benefits to include Health/Dental and Life Insurance, 401(k) and NAF Retirement.

Duties

Help

  • Assists in the efficient and effective operation of the Outdoor Recreation program including, but not limited to swimming, hiking, biking, camping, boating, fishing, white water rafting, canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, indoor climbing wall, equipment rental and retail sales.
  • Maintains equipment and facilities cleanliness and safety features to ensure safe working conditions prior to use and/or rental.
  • Operates cash register and point of sales equipment as required for day-to-day operations. Accounts for, safeguards and documents cash, check and credit card receipts and expenditures.
  • Provides safety orientation to participants prior to taking part in program activities and when checking out equipment.
  • Maintains spreadsheets for daily and monthly accounting of customers, rental reservations, RecTrac point of sales system transactions, monthly inventories, and NAF purchasing via NAF Purchasing Card.
  • Provides instruction and guidance to participants during Outdoor Adventure trips.
  • Operates a 15 pax van to transport customers to and from Outdoor Adventure Program destinations.
  • Tows equipment trailers to include kayak and canoe trailers, 6x12 enclosed and 4x6 enclosed trailers.
  • Duties require weekend and occasional evening work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must possess a current CPR and First Aid certification or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

Must have sufficient experience with cash handling and cash register operations to effectively account for large amounts of cash and credit card payments. Must have proficient skills with Microsoft Office products for day-to-day operations and possess effective time management skills. Must be able to account for equipment and retail sales inventories. Must possess a current CPR and First Aid certification or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment. Work involves walking, bending, climbing, swimming, and carrying of heavy items up to 50lbs. Must be able to exert light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Lifesaving/lifeguard experience desirable but not required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be available to work non-regular shifts to include weekends and occasional evenings. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 SEP 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Must satisfactory complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is
subject to random testing for drug use."

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
