The incumbent may be designated as the supervisor on duty, as needed, w Center (CDC) Director is not physically in the facility.

Duties

Help

  • Designs, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive curriculum of developmentally appropriate activities and programs for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
  • Conducts continuous health and developmental assessments of children.
  • Develops and executes specialized intervention programs for children with special needs, including those with learning disabilities, disciplinary challenges, or gifted abilities.
  • Provides technical guidance, on-the-job training, and leadership to junior staff on program activities, safety protocols, and behavior management techniques.

  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions present a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and
  • (Cont) public safety. It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.

In order to qualify, you must meet the basic requirement and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the 1702 Series, General Education and Training series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-02, equivalent to the next lower grade of GS-04, which includes: Ensure all activities contribute to the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children; continuously assesses the program's effectiveness, making adjustments to plans, policies, and procedures as necessary to maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment; maintain detailed observation records to identify and report any early signs of developmental delays, illness, or potential abuse or neglect; attend to children's daily physical and personal needs, including feeding, diapering, and hygiene, while promoting self-help skills; collaborate with parents and external support agencies to create and implement Individualized Education Programs; provide technical guidance, on-the-job training, and leadership to junior staff on program activities, safety protocols, and behavior management techniques; manage classroom logistics, including room arrangement and material procurement.

EDUCATION:
One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do work of the position; Or a Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, education must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of Child Development regulations, procedures, and processes.

2. Knowledge of early child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.

3. Knowledge of Child Development Center regulations, programs, and operations.

4. Ability to develop creative and innovative activity and special program plans.

5. Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

6. Ability to ensure the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, and proper management of equipment.


PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This is an acquisition demonstration project position NJ-02 equivalent to a GS-05 to GS-08.
