Duties

Help

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of 433 MDG, ensuring that the 433 MDG complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and 433 MDG objectives.
  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
  • Represents 433 MDG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with Wing Commander, Group Commanders, Senior ART/AGRs, and the 59th MDW.
  • As supervisory medical administrative specialist directs subordinate employees engaged in administration, logistics, resource management, and medical paraprofessional activities. Exercises full range of personnel management responsibilities over full-time civilian commander support staff, medical ARTs, AGRs and civilian resource advisor.
  • Manages and monitors group manpower resources and allocations. Ensures implementation of all AFRC-imposed manpower controls including officers, enlisted, and civilian strength levels, grades, under-grade/over-grade, and overages.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Example of specialized experience includes: (1) Performing a wide range of medical administrative technical concepts, theories, procedures and techniques; (2) working with medical operations and management principles, policies, procedures, medical plans, programs, and requirements; (3) utilizing pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources pertaining to medical operations, and understanding of Air Force Reserve Medical Service mission, organization, programs, and function; and (4) working with medical exercise and contingency planning and programming concepts of unit's medical mission, equipment specifications, resource allocation, and operational parameters.

EDUCATION:
Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or LL.M which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, if related. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a wide range of medical administrative technical concepts, theories, procedures and techniques, knowledge of medical operations and management principles, policies and procedures, and knowledge of medical plans, programs, and requirements.

2. Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources pertaining to medical operations, and a practical understanding of Air Force Reserve Medical Service mission, organization, programs, and function.

3. Knowledge of Air Force medical exercise and contingency planning and programming concepts and a thorough knowledge of squadron's medical mission, equipment specifications, resource allocation, and operational parameters.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
