The United States Space Force (USSF) at Randolph AFB, San Antonio, Texas is searching for a Data Specialist to support ETM/TMS (NH-1560-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).

Description:
The Enterprise Talent Management Office (ETM) is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Data Scientist (Research, Test, and Development) to serve as our premier data analyst expert. In this vital role, you will be the analytical engine behind our human capital strategies, helping us acquire, develop, and optimize our Guardian talent. Your daily work will involve initiating major organizational studies, designing predictive mathematical models, and evaluating complex policy proposals to ensure our force is structurally optimized and mission-ready.

As our subject matter expert, you will bridge the gap between complex datasets and strategic action. You will lead study teams, design advanced data models, and brief senior Space Force leadership on critical human capital initiatives. Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background and a proven track record of applying quantitative methods to solve complex organizational challenges.

Background and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience independently developing mathematical, statistical, or computer models and simulations.
- Experience managing or leading scientific study teams, prioritizing project milestones, and delivering results within tight timelines.
- Familiarity with data manipulation, database query languages (e.g., SQL), and statistical computing languages (e.g., Python, R).
- Experience applying data analytics to personnel, human capital, workforce planning, or organizational performance is highly desirable.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level).
  • May occasionally be required to work irregular duty hours to include overtime and/or emergency overtime.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assign.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • PCS is not authorized. Incentive is not authorized.
