The primary purpose of this position, Security Officer, GG-0080-13, is to manage all functions as the Chief, Special Security Office (also referred to as SSO). This office is the single point of contact and office of primary responsibility (OPR) for all Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and intelligence information security functions and information assurance actions.

  • Required to be available for duty when emergency situations arise as determined by the SIO. Incumbent is subject to immediate recalling at all times consistent with the nature of the emergency situation or exercise scenario.
  • Desired Skills: Four (4) years' experience overseeing building/accreditation of Special Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate: Eight (8) years' experience overseeing Special Compartmented Information operations.Security Manager (SSM Certification).

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Quality experience includes: Comprehensive knowledge of Sensitive Compartmented Information security management disciplines and directives to include physical, personnel, information and Sensitive Compartmented Information security.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems; applies policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.
2. Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs.
3. Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.
4. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security programs.
5. Skill in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating security program to meet mission requirements and improve the security program.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Additional Information:
Position is designated Special-Sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC), Security Asset Protection Professional Certification and Security Program Integration Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.

Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with other (i.e., superiors, peers, and subordinates) is a must. Employee must have the ability to cultivate lasting professional relationships and understand the value of continuing these relationships as it relates to the overall intelligence mission and the needs of the unit's intelligence customers.
