Duties

Help

Receives incoming shipments from off-loading areas and checks receiving vouchers to ensure quality and quantity of items received. Assembles items into groups based on information shown on receiving vouchers, segregates materials as necessary and routes along appropriate processing lines. Holds materials for inspection according to established procedures, and routes items not requiring inspection to proper storage. Reports overages, shortages, or damaged conditions to supervisor Responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective storage operation. Based on knowledge of warehousing plan, selects storage locations and stores, stacks, and palletizes items considering their use, size, shape, quantity, and possibility of contamination to or from other items. Lays out storage space, establishing item locations, determining organization and arrangement of stock, identify high and low usage items. Selects items for shipment or issue. Obtains authorized signature on issue documents and keeps necessary copy of requisition to account for issues. Picks up and delivers items to Chili's activities. Assists in end- of-month inventories of stock by counting items in storage areas. Ensures that supplies and equipment are safeguarded and secure at all times. Prepares shipping and inventory documents with required data for manual or automated inventory systems. Secures all storerooms as required. Adheres to fire and safety regulations. Assist supervisor in developing plans for storage and arrangement of stock IAW regulations. Works independently and under the direction of the supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skill and Knowledge: Knowledge of a wide variety of warehouse plans, methods, procedures, and techniques of material handling. Ability to operate mechanized equipment for storage and retrieval.
Physical Effort: Lifting and carrying supplies, materials, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds assisted. Heavier items are moved with equipment or the assistance of other workers. Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Bends, stoops, and works in tiring or uncomfortable positions.
Working Conditions: Usually works indoors and occasionally outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. Exposed to possibility of cut, scrapes, bruises, and abrasions. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in and knowledge of a wide variety of warehouse plans, methods, procedures, and techniques of material handling. Must have knowledge of defensive driving techniques and regulations. Must have skills in securing cargo for transit and knowledge of vehicle weight limits. Must have skills in maneuvering and driving vehicles weighing less than 14,000 pounds. Must be able to operate mechanized equipment for storage and retrieval. Knowledge of computer software (spreadsheet and MS word) is required. Works independently. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted. Must be able to frequently stand, bend, stoop, crawl, and work in tight spaces for long periods of time. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Operator's Permit for civilian license. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
