Duties

Help

As a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-10, you will:

  • Troubleshoot carrier electrical and power distribution system components of the weapon system or equipment being repaired.
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to units throughout the state so that they will be able to operate at the desired level of proficiency.
  • Perform administrative functions in establishing and maintaining maintenance records on equipment maintained or repaired.
  • Remove and replace defective electrical, electronic, and mechanical components.
  • Conduct inspection, diagnose nature and extent of equipment malfunction.
  • Replace faulty component on UUT printed circuit boards and power distribution systems.
  • Install and applies equipment modifications when directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.NATIONAL GUARD


MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.


Additional Employment Requirements:

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service


Areas of Consideration:CAT III:
All Title 32 Employees within the New Jersey Army National

Military Grades: E-5 to E-8
Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade.

Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments. Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Must have general experience in the follow:

  • Knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, and testing procedures
  • Using hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have 18 months specialized experience in the following:
  • Utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment
  • Diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems
  • Making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment
  • Using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc
  • Demonstrating the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications
