Duties

Help
  • Develops, establishes, and directs command-wide security policies and programs for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), ensuring compliance with national-level directives
  • Directs all aspects of security for the operation of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs), to include creating, implementing, and managing policies pertaining to their construction and accreditation.
  • Serves as the principal technical advisor for all security disciplines, including Personnel (PERSEC), Information (INFOSEC), Physical (PHYSEC), and Technical security.
  • Serves as the Command Classification Advisory Officer, managing programs and initiatives designed to ensure the proper classification and protection of official communications, documents, and automated information systems.
  • Oversees the granting of SCI accesses, adjudicating clearance actions, and serving as the authority for access to specialized national agency facilities and information systems.
  • Exercises full technical and administrative supervision over military and civilian security personnel, managing workflow, setting performance standards

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be undergo and successfully complete an initial and periodic Counter-Intelligence Polygraph (CI Poly) examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS-SCI).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to National Security Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency accredited facilities and networks. {Military and External Affiliates Division (MEAD) Security In-Process (SIP) Process.}
  • Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required 25% or less of work schedule, both in CONUS and OCONUS areas.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify, applicants must have one year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes:
1. Implementing security policies and procedures for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) to ensure compliance with federal-level intelligence agency requirements; AND
2. Advising leadership on personnel, information, physical, and technical security matters to support organizational operations; AND
3.Managing personnel security clearance programs by applying access and eligibility standards for sensitive information and facilities; AND
4. Developing and implementing security awareness and training programs to ensure the protection of sensitive information and adherence to security protocols.

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

  • TERM: Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 5 years by a current permanent DCIPS Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. This position may be made permanent without further competition. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary or Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary or Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
