Duties

Help
  • Install, clean, maintain, repair, test, and/or adjust electric wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, tools, appliances, electric drills, grinders, and/or shop equipment.
  • Troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunction, test and/or assist in ordering and replacing electronic components.
  • Determine feasibility to repair.
  • Attend training sessions related to special job requirements.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation NACI T1.
  • Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.


To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official.


Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRICIAN ~ without more than normal supervision.Have the ability to perform common duties which include 1) Using test equipment such as oscilloscope, digital voltmeter, voltmeters, ampmeters, wattmeters, meggers, ohmmeters, and/or analyzers; 2) Maintaining a record of all repairs made; and 3) Performing preventive maintenance on electrical components. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort

Frequently lifts and carries parts and assemblies weighing up to 20 pounds. May occasionally lift larger assemblies weighing up to 60 pounds. The work requires frequent bending, stooping, standing and working in cramped positions.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily inside, under normal shop conditions where it is well lighted and heated. Incumbent is subject to injury from cuts, bruises, burns, and electrical shock. The nature of the work can be classified as dirty and greasy. Incumbent is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job.
