Summary
You will serve as an Education Technician.

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
Informs visitors including students about park facilities and resources through informal interpretation.
Schedules and organizes program logistics and provides input and ideas on program development.
Develops and presents a variety of formal and informal interpretive programs as well as a variety of curriculum-based education programs to students of all ages and backgrounds.
Serves as a role model for other staff members, including volunteers, and assists with program development and training. Mentor seasonal staff by providing guidance and feedback.
Communicate with educational groups, teachers, the public, and community which include people of various ages and backgrounds under a variety of circumstances.
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.

Specialized Experience Requirement: you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: that includes environmental educator; teacher; naturalist; park guide or tour leader; or other similar work requiring skill in working with audiences of diverse backgrounds, ages and group sizes and knowledge of topics related to environmental education, cultural/natural history, biological/physical sciences, natural resources, instruction in curriculum-based residential programs or other disciplines related to resource-based education. You must include hours per week worked.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: Incumbent must be able to hike several miles over uneven terrain in extreme weather conditions (e.g. heat). Assignments include extended periods of standing, hiking outdoors in hot weather, speaking for long periods of times, climbing and descending stairs, lifting, bending, sitting, and working at a computer workstations. Incumbent is generally assigned daytime schedules but will also work some evening and late-night shifts.
Work Environment: Educational programs are presented both indoors and outdoors and may require exposure to hot and cold climatic conditions. Occasional adverse weather conditions (e.g. rain, snow) and infrequent intermittent hazards (e.g. sandy terrain, ticks) may be encountered. Classroom, contact stations, and office work take place in climate-controlled setting.
