Duties

Help
  • Perform tasks involving budget execution by compiling resource data from various financial management reports.
  • Utilize automated financial systems to input, correct, and process budget data.
  • Analyze statistical and budget data to support budget formulation.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and other documents using several types of software packages for different office needs.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The employee may be required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Travel away from the normal duty station (TDY) is at least 15%.
  • Position requires the skills of a Qualified Typist. Incumbent must be able to type 40WPM.
  • This Level 1 Financial Management certification requirement is a condition of employment for this position. Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience in 1.) Formulate budget summaries and reports using statistical data; 2.) Utilizing automated financial accounting systems to input and process data such as Defense Travel System (DTS)/ Government Travel Card (GTC); AND 3.) Reviewing budgetary data to provide support for budget formulation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).



Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
