Duties

Help

Provides professional accounting  duties to include a variety of general accounting support tasks including verifying the accuracy of accounting documents or records, updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial transactions for accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger to include the areas of cash, receipts, disbursements, and expense vouchers.  Prepares  accounting entries with supporting documents and posts into accounting system.  Compiles financial data and prepares a variety of reports.  Performs accounting functions related to budgets and projections.  Establishes and maintains control of subsidiary accounts which involve all types of transactions.  Analyzes, classifies, and reconciles accounts requiring analysis of adjustments and corrective entries to ensure proper documentation and account accuracy. Frequently develop worksheets to prove the accuracy and completeness of entries.  Recommends corrective action to senior accountants. Assist accountants with researching and resolving system-related issues affecting day-to-day accounting operations. Assists accountants with implementing direct accounting changes and reporting requirements.  

Establishes and ensures that administrative procedures are outlined and strictly adhered to.  Reconciles records with internal staff , management, or external vendors or customers.   Recommend actions to resolve discrepancies.  Investigates questionable data and performs analysis. Uses knowledge of methods, techniques and internal procedures to identify, record, and process the continuous flow of accounting data.  Provides limited assistance in specific accounting assignments.  Interprets new regulatory guides.  Develop and updates procedural guides to accommodate regulatory changes.  

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Take action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

Three (3) years¿ experience in financial accounting that demonstrates possession of generally accepted accounting principles to include a thorough knowledge in fiscal matters, accounting principles, practices and procedures, regulations, and policies. Relevant education may be used as a substitute for experience.

Must have a high degree of proven initiative and originality in application and employment of accounting systems and directives applicable to NAF financial accounting.  

Knowledge of general accounting principles applicable to retail and cost environments.  Ability to apply a thorough understanding of accounting principles and procedures in performing accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger functions within the framework of an automated financial system.  Ability to maintain a working knowledge of automated financial systems including software applications and integrated subsystems.
