About the Position: Performs a wide variety of professional and scientific electrical and electronic assignments under administrative supervision of the Chief of the Ammunition Equipment Section.

Duties

Help
  • Evaluate various alternate methods as to engineering soundness, adequacy, feasibility, cost, etc., and makes determinations and recommendations.
  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate various fields of engineering involved in the design and development of equipment systems.
  • Devise new and improved techniques for attaining technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Design, modify and fabricate ammunition machines.
  • Determine methods to develop, test, and operate a variety of specialized systems designed to permit evaluation of munitions effectiveness by simulation.
  • Design or modify various complex electrical and electronic systems and equipment used to renovate, demilitarize, demolition and maintenance of high explosives, chemical and small arms ammunition and components.
  • Plan, develop, and advise on available and proposed electrical and electronic power services for local use by the serviced organization.
  • Analyze and evaluate electrical power capabilities in existing and proposed equipment, processes, and computer systems.

In order to qualify, you must meet the BASIC EDUCATION requirement AND the SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE requirements described below to qualify at each grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience Requirement:

GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes performing design, development, testing, construction and operations of specialized electric and electronic equipment systems. Developing techniques and methods in the design, modification, fabrication and operation of specialized machines and equipment. Evaluate electronic and electrical power capabilities in existing and proposed equipment and systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
