About the Position:Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Duties

Help
  • Inspect welding on fabricated items for proper build-up and application of materials.
  • Assure production machine is set up at level where parts being produced meet acceptable requirements.
  • Use measuring machine system to determine measurements.
  • Provide specialist with information concerning customer complaints regarding damaged material.
  • Assist personnel upon requests on drawings, specifications, inspections, and advise on machine setups.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.

  • Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 5 years by a current permanent Army employee.
  • Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
  • Position may be made permanent without further competition.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an TOOLMAKER INSPECTOR without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common fabricating, modification, and inspection on fabricated items and assemblies for proper build-up and application of materials. I can fabricate, modify, and repair molds, tools, dies and instrument parts. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT Majority of the time is spent standing and walking around. Required to stoop, bend and reach, climb and frequently handles objects weighing 10 pounds and occasionally objects up to 40 pounds. Hoist, hand trucks, lifts and other workers are available to assist with heavier items.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS Works is normally performed in a well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noises, moving machinery and fumes. Possible danger to the skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles, and hot metal; possibility of skin irritations from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds; danger to fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from sharp edges of tools, equipment and machinery. Wears
    safety glasses, safety shoes and other safety apparel and equipment. Workers are subjected to the usual dirt and noise of machine shop activities.
