Duties

Help

If selected for this position, you will serve as a Legal Administrative Specialist for the United States Attorney's Office, District of Montana. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Explains and sets team goals, priorities, and objectives, and provides information to the supervisor on team performance.
  • Oversees team members and monitors workload to ensure it is balanced among team members in accordance with established workflow, while also assisting with tasks and the workload.
  • Planning, creating, and coordinating litigation support services including trial preparation and presentation.
  • Analyzing litigation support software and support systems and taking action to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Organizing, tracking and analyzing voluminous amounts of digital evidence for complex cases handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
*Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.*

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.

Specialized experience is defined as: providing technical advice to litigation teams and legal support staff on legal automation requirements and system capabilities; participating in the investigation and litigation of civil and criminal cases; analyzing litigation support requirements to develop or recommend appropriate strategies to meet litigation needs; diagnosing litigation support computer system problems to meet individual user needs and evaluating new developments in legal technology, including software courtroom presentation equipment and trial exhibit preparation.
