Help

The incumbent works in the Communications Department (DD-COM) of the National Gallery of Art (NGA) which is charged with the press relations and information activities of the museum.

Duties for this position include

  • Manage and analyze press coverage 
  • Manage departmental budget 
  • Use data to determine the impact of outreach activities 
  • Coordinate department projects, setting up and managing project management systems 
  • Provide administrative support to the staff of communication team
  • Assist with press events and managing incoming media inquiries in coordination with other team members

Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field

OR

Specialized Experience Statement: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service or private sector, providing day-to-day administrative and operational support to a press and communications office in an art museum; establishing and maintaining project management systems; managing payments and budgets; managing data collection and analysis; monitoring and documenting media coverage AND assisting a department head in administrative matters.

A combination of education and experience

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your resume will be used to evaluate your experience, education, and/or training that address the competencies below: 

  • Knowledge of print, broadcast, and digital media organizations’ procedures and programs
  • Knowledge of financial management systems
  • Ability to manage and regulate payments and payment systems
  • Ability to interpret basic quantitative data on audience engagement
  • Knowledge of project management platforms such as Wrike/ClickUp
  • Knowledge of major administrative platforms such as Microsoft Office
  • Ability to track the administrative tasks associated with the efficient running of a press and communications office

Category Rating: Qualified candidates will be assigned to one of the three quality categories: The quality categories are defined as: Qualified (70-79.99), Well Qualified (80-89.99), or Best Qualified (90-100)

Qualified Category = Does not exceed the basic qualifications requirements described in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement.

Well Qualified Category = Meets the basic qualifications requirements described in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement and demonstrates proficiency in the Critical Competencies defined below. (This category must be met to be considered under ICTAP procedures)

Best Qualified Category = Meets the basic qualifications requirements described in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement and excels in the Critical Competencies defined below.
