The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs is searching for a Division Chief, Logistics & Sustainment for SPACEFOR-NORTH (NH-0301-04, GS-14/15 equivalent).

We are seeking a visionary, high-performing logistics expert to lead our Sustainment and Logistics Enterprise. In this senior role, you will serve as the chief advisor on all things logistics, acquisitions, and readiness. You will be at the absolute forefront of space defense logistics, pioneering strategies that will be studied for decades.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
Lead the Enterprise: Direct logistics and sustainment operations across the entire SPACEFOR-NORTH network, finding and implementing innovative solutions to keep systems running smoothly.
Advise Senior Leaders: Serve as the final authority on logistics, providing clear, data-driven advice and recommendations to executive leadership, program managers, and key partners.
Shape Policy and Budgets: Develop long-range logistics programs, staffing plans, and budget recommendations that align with national defense strategies.
Manage Government Acquisitions: Oversee contract planning, cost-benefit analyses, and vendor performance to ensure the government gets the highest value for its investments.
Build Critical Partnerships: Connect and collaborate with key players across the Department of Defense, Space Force, and private aerospace sectors to align goals and solve shared problems.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a senior-level logistics, supply chain and contracts expert with extensive experience working within the U.S. Department of Defense, particularly with the U.S. Space Force. This person understand government contracting and can confidently navigate the pre-award, negotiation, and post-award phases of acquisition programs. This persoon can break down complex technical, financial, and policy issues into clear, persuasive briefings for senior leaders and external partners. Background in MILCON process highly desired.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Mastery of the DoW and U.S. Space Force supply chain enterprise, with demonstrated ability to manage and resolve highly complex logistical challenges, analyze operational data, and drive sustainment solutions.
2. In-depth knowledge of the U.S. Space Force, DoW, NORTHCOM and SPACEFOR-NORTH missions, organizational structures, and operational priorities, with the ability to integrate component logistics into the broader joint environment.
3. Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, provide authoritative counsel to senior leadership, and drive organizational change by developing, coordinating, and implementing logistics and acquisition policy.
4. High-level skill in articulating complex technical and policy matters with clarity and persuasion to negotiate solutions, influence senior-level decisions, and maintain critical stakeholder relationships.
5. Expertise in anticipating and resolving severe operational challenges in dynamic environments, with the ability to align logistics information systems and innovative sustainment strategies with long-term mission goals.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
Safeguards classified or sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.

Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
PCS funding is authorized and may be made available.
Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 30 days per year.
