Help
  • Develops, manages, maintains and administers the Outdoor Recreation Program and facilities to include but not limited to: Equipment Check-Out Center, a high adventure program, classroom facilities, Archery Range, paintball course, mountain hiking.
  • Plans, supervises and directs year-round or seasonal outdoor recreation activities and services. Integrates risk management and organization safety program requirements into daily operations and activities.
  • Devises, improvises, and adapts these various activities to fit the conditions of the natural environment, and to conform to limitations in funds, facilities, equipment, and staff support.
  • Responsible for inventories and property; determines equipment condition; initiates maintenance, repair or replacement as appropriate. Recommends purchase/construction of equipment and facilities.
  • Prepares appropriated and nonappropriated budgets and monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with regulations. Ensures proper procedures are used to ensure that no misappropriation of funds occurs and maintains effective internal controls.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

Directly related work experience that included the goals, principles, method of techniques, of outdoor recreation and understanding the interests of individuals and groups. Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs. Work experience supervising support staff in outdoor recreation programs. Demonstrated work experience must be equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.

Preferred are those applicants that possess a Certified Leisure Professional through National Recreation and Park Association and work experience as indicated above and a bachelor's degree in the recreation/outdoor program areas.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":

  1. More than 2 years of experience managing Family & MWR programs, including the Special Events.
  2. At least 1 year of experience overseeing or managing Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ)training program for soldiers.

Preference will be given to applicants who possess a bachelor's degree in the recreation, outdoor recreation, or a related field.

  • This job is open to candidates who are in the in the Commuting Area of Camp Casey. Family Member Preference (FMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.
PCS Costs
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Foreign overseas allowances, and post differentials will not be paid.
  • Post Allowance is authorized for this position if the selectee is determined to meet eligibility requirements (Camp Casey is a 12-month unaccompanied tour area.)

  • Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is in the Commuting Area of Camp Casey only(Family Member Preference (FMP) eligible candidates are included in the Area of Consideration).

Camp Casey is a 12-month unaccompanied tour area.

Camp Casey spans 3,500 acres and is located within a valley, 11 miles (20 km) south of the Demilitarized Zone in the village of Dongducheon and about 40 miles north of Seoul, South Korea. The Kwangju Mountain Range, an offshoot of the Taebaek Mountains, extends southwest to include the mountains around Seoul. This range separates the Paju plain in the Imjin drainage from the Han. The majority of the mountain tops in this region are less than 4,900 feet (1,500 meters). Tobong, Soyo and Surak Mountains are all in the area, as is the Songdu Resort. Also, there are many parks, resorts, historical sites and entertainment areas in Korea. Because of the country's size and excellent transportation system, all these sites are within a day's travel from anywhere in the Division area.
