Duties

Help
  • Plan and manage the fire and emergency services program for the Directorate of Emergency Services.
  • Develop and recommend all regulations and SOPs in order to implement DOD, DA, IMCOM and TRADOC regulations.
  • Direct emergency services equipment and personnel to respond to particular types of emergencies.
  • Manage the installation’s emergency communications center for Fire and Emergency Services that receives 9-1-1 calls for assistance.
  • Execute administrative and personnel management functions related to the accomplishment of the assigned missions.

  • Position may be designated Emergency Essential (E-E) in support of mobilization and wartime mission.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance.
  • Must maintain a valid State and Government Driver's License.
  • Must participate in the Division Wellness Program to include: a. Annual Physical Evaluation (E-E Requirement) b. On-The-Spot Drug Testing
  • Position subject to occasional travel.
  • Position subject to immediate recall and extended shifts during emergencies.
  • Position required to work (1) 24-hour shift weekly.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; (2) rescue operations; (3) detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; (4) operation of fire communications equipment; (5) controlling hazardous materials incidents; and/or (6) developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Selective Placement Factor: In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess Fire Officer IV, Instructor II, Inspector II, Hazardous Material Operations and Incident Commander certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M.
