Performs server systems administration duties on virtual servers, physical servers and clustered servers to ensure optimal data availability and functionality of installed network servers and desktop workstations.
Monitors and performs the maintenance of server client and server log files, databases, and server-installed software.
Server administration includes but is not limited to server operating systems, extensible Web servers, and systems management software.
Reviews and manages server logs, performs diagnostics, and executes system backups and recoveries.
Deploys and maintains specialized medical software and server-based systems throughout the command from multiple vendors and DHA Program of Record (POR) Program Managers.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required
This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain IAT Level II certification by completing one of the commercial certifications as outlined in DODM 8140.03 within six (6) months of employment.
This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
This position may be required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
This position is designated “Mission Essential”.
In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position is subject to TDY or business travel requirements to various locations. This may require travel via privately owned vehicles, commercial transport platforms, and/or military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.

Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning, designing, and carrying out projects and studies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organizational processes, 2) Assess new system proposals, 3) Design, develop, test, and debug software that integrates with current and future infrastructures, 4) Providing technical guidance on complex IT issues by serving as a subject matter expert to other specialists and user groups; and 5) Interpreting IT policies and precedents to develop new methods. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
