Duties

Help

This position resides in the Business Operations Flight, reporting directly to the Flight Chief. Serves as the primary Division Safety Program Administrator (SPA) for the Food Service Branch (FSB), executing safety program compliance and accident prevention initiatives. Conducts and documents mandatory quarterly facility inspections to identify safety hazards, evaluate operations, and ensure compliance with occupational health standards. Directs annual safety inspections in coordination with the 18 FSS SPA and the 18th Wing Safety Office. Coordinates prompt corrective actions for identified safety hazards or violations. Monitors and documents facility maintenance issues, ensuring facility managers report and resolve deficiencies in a timely manner. Investigates on-the-job accidents, performs root-cause analyses on workplace injuries, and tracks near-miss incidents to prevent recurrence. Administers preventive measures, including safety and remedial training for on-site personnel. Ensures prompt reporting of all
accidents, incidents, and investigation findings to the Flight Chief, base ground safety office, and any other required offices. Manages work requests and safety records for all FSB facilities. Initiates, tracks, and coordinates facility maintenance and safety-related work orders to completion. Maintains communication with work center managers, facility managers, and external agencies (such as Civil Engineering and Fire Department) regarding safety and maintenance statuses. Assists supervisors with shop safety program administration and conducts routine spot inspections.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience working in maintenance, facility management, and overall basic knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Practices and/or familiarity with Base Safety Regulations. Must have knowledge of safety and occupational health concepts, principles, practices, procedures, techniques, standards, orders, and directives. Must have the ability and experience in performing mishap investigations and other investigations related to unsafe practices, identifying/analyzing causal factors, and recommending actions to prevent recurrences. Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing in order to prepare and present reports, briefings, and investigation results to all levels of the organization. Must have a valid SOFA driver's license. Base Safety certification highly desirable but not required. Condition(s) of Employment: Must satisfactorily complete a Tier Level 1 background investigation. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
