Duties

Help

As a HR Specialist (Title 32/Military), GS-0201-09, serve as a technical and subject matter expert on military personnel management policies, procedures, and regulations. Coordinate human resources and administrative support for military personnel within the unit. Serve as primary contact for unit level military personnel matters, assisting supervisors and commanders with policies and programs. Serve as lead for two or more specialized functional areas supporting unit operations, ensuring compliance with Air Force policies. Key areas include:

Administration: Oversee preparation and publication of personnel documents and orders using automated systems.

Personnel: Administer and manage personnel records, evaluations, awards, promotions, leave programs, and official correspondence.

Unit Deployment Management: Oversee unit deployment readiness by maintaining deployment documentation, coordinating with Installation Deployment Officer (IDO), and monitoring unit status through Logistics and Personnel Management Software and systems.

Training: Plan and coordinate unit training program activity.

Program and Special Duties Management: Administer, oversee, or assist with special programs including Government Purchase Card, Defense Travel System, Unit Drug Demand Reduction, Security, and Unit Recognition programs for regulatory compliance and to provide advisory support as needed

The incumbent will provide limited supervisory oversight, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing feedback to lower-graded employees. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Dual-status positions require military membership and adherence to professional development requirements, including training and certifications.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 through E-6

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience gained through military or civilian technical training schools, within the human resources business programs, are included as general experience qualifications. An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months specialized experience of training or at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or the equivalent which provided a basic working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and personnel programs? Must have basic knowledge and experience of personnel programs gained in a classroom or as an on-the-job trainee. Have knowledge-based competency in human resources elements and can discuss terminology, concepts, principles, and issues related to this competency. Experienced in using references and resource materials and experienced in program functions such as, maintaining personnel records, counseling, or classification and assignments. Experiences may include performing personnel functions associated with preparing and maintaining position descriptions and manual records, personnel classification or usage, quality force management, managing personnel records and researching record data. Experienced in operating a computer and using varied computer programs. Experience in human resources programs related to Career Enhancements, Customer Service, Employments, Relocations, and/or Readiness.

This position, located in an ANG Wing Force Support Squadron, directs a small team consisting of 2-4 subordinate Full-time CSS personnel supporting Commander's Support Staff (CSS) and Orderly Room (CCQ) operations at the Group level. The incumbent oversees CSS/CCQ functions; ensures efficient daily administrative support and manages military program execution per the Personnel Services Delivery Guide (PSDG). Responsibilities include training and mentoring personnel to maintain mission readiness and compliance with Air Force policies.
