Summary

The incumbent serves as the Waco Regional Office Staff Assistant for all divisions as a Privacy Officer, providing systems access to employees, and reviewing and maintaining sensitive records. The position is located in the Office of the Director and serves as an advisor to leadership on all items pertaining to privacy and sensitive level issues for personnel. Develops, analyzes, evaluates, advises on, or improves the effectiveness of areas of responsibility.

Duties

Help

Specific duties include:

  • Receives and monitors action items/responses ensuring completed actions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinates strategic planning activities and prepares strategic plans in conjunction with policies and regulations.
  • Manages short-term and long-term projects for the program.
  • Initiates, plans, and implements process improvement initiatives.
  • Investigates complex issues and analyzes problems that affect the management of an organization.
  • Attends meetings, prepares meeting minutes, and follows up on action items with appropriate staff members independently.
  • Research and provides background on subject matter of meetings without direction.
  • Perform a variety of analytical, planning, evaluative, and advisory assignments to quantitatively or qualitatively evaluate the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals, measures, and objectives.
  • Produce graphs and/or charts to illustrate a concept, point, or demonstrate the effectiveness of programs and/or business operations.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement: 08/24/2026.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

  • For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11 level.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: You may qualify based on your experience only, as described below:

GS-12 Grade Level:
  • Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as work that involves applying, analyzing, and interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, and policies. Conducting thorough analyses of numerous functions and work processes. Developing project plans, carrying out each phase of the project, making suggestions, and settling/resolving any issues regarding the solutions. Compiles resource data from multiple management reports and advising senior leadership of findings.
  • Education Substitution: There is NO educational substitution for this position at the GS-12 grade level.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Full vs. Part-Time Employment: Full-time employment is considered to be at least 35 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited on a pro-rated basis; when including part-time employment in your resume you must specify the average hours worked per week.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
