Duties

Help
  • Plans and performs all security management functions for both SCI and non-SCI programs, including developing, implementing, and managing a multi-faceted security program.
  • Directs and controls the planning, development, implementation, and administration of physical security measures, and conducts site inspections for compliance.
  • Conducts studies to analyze program effectiveness and provides expert advice and guidance on the interpretation and application of security policies and procedures.
  • Manages the personnel security program, including maintaining accountability of authorized access, managing the billet process, and performing continuous evaluation of personnel.
  • Oversees investigations of security incidents, notifies leadership of findings, and recommends corrective actions to ensure compliance with established directives.

  • This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency.

Qualifying Experience:

To qualify at the GG-13 level, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as:

Planning or performing security management functions for an organization.

OR

Implementing and administering physical security measures.

OR

Providing guidance on the application of security policies and procedures.

OR

Managing a personnel security program, including access and billet processes.

  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination

  • This position has been identified as a Defense Security Position (DSP) in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Manual 3305.13-M, "DoD Security Accreditation and Certification" and selectees will be required to meet the certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) program. As such, the individual selected for this position must obtain and/or maintain a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC). Upon appointment to this position selectees will have two years to meet the applicable SPeD certification requirements and will be required to sign a statement acknowledging the SFPC requirements and agreeing to permit the DoW/DoD to access and monitor the certification qualifications associated with this position.   • This position is Mission Essential. Employee is subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
  • This position is not open to retired federal employees interested in employment as a reemployed annuitant. Under the provisions of 5 U.S.C. 8344 and 8468, a dual compensation (salary offset) waiver is NOT authorized for this position. Therefore, individuals receiving a federal civil service retirement annuity are not eligible for consideration under this vacancy.
