Duties

Help

As a/an Supervisory Loan Specialist at theGS- 1165-15, some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Performs the full range of managerial duties and responsibilities in directing all work of assigned Center, including the development of long-range goals and objectives, establishing priorities, determination of resource needs, and effective allocation of resources.
  • Create programs for improving work processes in an organizational unit engaged in commercial or residential loan origination, servicing or liquidation transactions.
  • Reviews staffing requirements for the Center, justifying additional staffing as required; Prepares position descriptions, performance standards, and evaluates performance of Loan Operation Center employees.
  • Cultivates a culture of employee engagement; Establishes and communicates vision and long-term goals to Center employees; involves employees in the formulation of Center goals and initiatives, as appropriate; Communicates regularly on progress toward organizational goals.
  • Initiate and manage multiple actions to improve operations or reduce costs within the office.

Qualifications

GS-15: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:

  1. Managing multiple teams or a multi-faceted organization responsible for processing a high volume of loans or comparable financial services in a dynamic environment that is regional or national in scope; AND
  2. Advising, counseling, and instructing subordinate employees on technical and administrative matters.
These qualifications must be clearly referenced in your resume.

If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled.

Loan Specialist Series 1165

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Generally, time in Non-Pay status as a federal employee is not creditable towards the specialized experience requirement listed above.

All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 09/01/2026.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
