Duties

Help

Performs metric development and data-driven analysis and accomplishes internal quality assurance portions of the Oracle accounting system applying accounting and/or auditing analysis theory and principles.

Researches, analyzes, and validates information from the financial system database, servicing bank/merchant provider reports, and a variety of point-of-sale databases, and reports. Audits, reconciles, and maintains complex monthly business and accounting data from a variety of sources and generates monthly metric reports capturing accounting position to program management and leadership. Identifies/traces discrepancies and errors and ensures completeness and accuracy of data using trend analysis, tools and auditing techniques. Gathers, analyzes and reports monthly cash metric data for forecasting and leadership reporting. Collaborates with accountants, program managers, and information technology administrators develop system change requests and conduct appropriate system and functional testing. Works alongside systems/lead accountants to test, report findings and implement all new accounting requirements and point-of-sale interfaces into the financial accounting system. Examines/analyzes data from electronic forms and retail sales systems. Collects/prepares supporting information from financial statements, cash modules, and other software applications in coordination with AFSVC personnel concerning banking, cash operations, accounts payable, retirement funds, investments and other centrally funded programs. Verifies accuracy of all cash clearing functions from a variety of sources and performs reconciling tasks using double-entry accrual accounting methods. Validates accuracy of the cash control summary report and base commercial charges report for all AF funds. Trains new employees on the financial accounting software cash management system and other cash reconciling tools and reports. Responds to inquiries from the field regarding all facets of cash and commercial charge reconciliation, traces discrepancies to source documents, and accomplishes appropriate corrective actions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Experience and training in financial analysis, accounting, auditing, bank reconciliation, cash balancing, forecasting, developing and interpreting financial metrics. Progressive experience with reconciling general ledger journal entries and cash receipts/disbursements using bank statements and point-of-sale systems. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and similar applications.

Desirable Experience:
Experience with interrelations of general ledger accounts and effects of debit and credit transactions on cash reconciliation is preferred. Experience with Oracle e-business commercial accounting systems and point-of-sale systems highly desirable. A Bachelor's/Associates Degree in accounting, business, management, finance, economics, statistics, or related field is highly desirable.
