WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a student volunteer, you will use your knowledge of and experience with computer science information technology to optimize business results and customer experience by:

1. Identify, catalog, and organize key data sources related to the program IT portfolio, including system inventories, documentation repositories, and metadata sources.
2. Standardize and tag collected documents and metadata to enable efficient retrieval.
3. Using approved tools and platforms, help develop a prototype AI agent capable of answering common portfolio related questions.
4. Define and test practical use cases, such as responding to leadership data calls, onboarding new staff, or identifying systems by program area or function.
5. Assess the prototype's effectiveness, identify gaps, and produce documentation outlining recommendations for future scaling and integration.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national.

  • Volunteers must meet the federal minimum working age (5 CFR §308.102(a)).

Qualifications

High school senior/College students pursuing degrees in areas such as: Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems, Data Science, Health Informatics, Public Health, Business Administration, or other related disciplines.

Specialized Experience: Prior experience in software engineering, data management, data analysis, and AI is highly desired but not required

Volunteers must meet the definition of a student defined as "an individual enrolled not less than half-time in a high school, trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited educational institution (5 U.S.C. §3111(a) and 5 CFR §308.101)" throughout the duration of their volunteer service, except during acceptable breaks in education as described in 5 CFR §308.101.
