Duties

Help
  • Plans, recommends, coordinates, manages and evaluates major projects, studies andactions related to the development, introduction, incorporation and sustainment of Army, OSHA andjoint base safety.
  • Researches, studies, and evaluates operations and risks, and identifies/develops methods/techniques to control/eliminate hazardous conditions that occur during daily operations and exercises.
  • Develops safety alerts and messages to inform units of unsafe equipment or conditions which are timely.
  • Reports all aspects of the safety program directly to Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) Safety Directorate.
  • Studies Brigade or office operations, structure, work flow, equipment, mission, and other technical aspects.
  • Develops and provides 93d Signal Brigade-wide policies and procedures for hazardous materials including the identification, storage, handling, use, disposal and transportation of the commodities.

  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain all applicable certification requirements for this position as outlined in the CP-12 Professional Certificate Program for Safety Professionals within six months of hire date.

  • Incumbent may be required to travel TDY up to 35% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe the specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by managing comprehensive occupational safety and health programs; authoring safety SOPs, guidance, or training materials; evaluating a safety program effectiveness through audits and inspections; overseeing hazardous material identification, storage, handling and disposal.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Additional information

  • If you are a current federal career/career-conditional employee, you will be placed on an excepted appointment.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

  • This is a(n) Safety and Occupational Health Management Career Field position.
  • In accordance with DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, the employee must obtain and maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role (except Data, AI, and/or Software Engineering) at the assigned proficiency level: 1) Foundational qualification
    requirements within 9 months, 2) Resident qualification requirements within 12 months, 3) 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code (which can overlap).
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
