Duties

Help

Processes all work orders received from flight chiefs and activity managers by deciding the most appropriate type of promotional coverage, and providing information to publicity outlets for incorporation into media campaigns. Validates program information, verifying that dates, time, and places for scheduled activities are correct. Assists with maintaining and continual development of the JB Charleston commercial web site ensuring ease of navigation and customer appeal, as well as updates, statistical tracking, troubleshooting and search engine optimization.

Also assist with all social media channels. May serve as writer and editor of the monthly Force Support publication (and inserts/pages in base newspaper) to keep the Joint Base community informed, on a continuing basis, of programs, and activities that range from specific (videotaping) to individual sections (outdoor recreation) to the overall Force Support program. Works in direct and constant contact with Public Affairs to obtain maximum coverage in the base newspaper to coordinate all off-base releases and to receive miscellaneous publicity assistance in major events. Writes and edits feature articles.

Accomplish a variety of one-time, special projects to promote a particular program or activity, making use of all available promotional tools. Archive events/programs/services via photography, videography or other means. Create, design, edits and displays printed and visual information for various media channels/platforms including but not limited to web, social media, plasma displays, and digital marketing. Accomplishes independently the liaison and administration work to obtain coverage in various publications, such as the Joint Base Charleston base paper, Base Bulletin, and similar news sources serving the military community.

Assists the marketing office with special events, contests and programs. May serve as media liaison for briefings and other promotional opportunities. Assist with ongoing customer evaluation system and market research as well as keeping current with marketing trends. May serve as the employee-in-charge during the absence of the Marketing Director. Position of trust. Travels to base and community in performance of duties using a government vehicle.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Four year college degree in English, Journalism or Marketing and/or four years experience in the field of marketing/PR is required. Requires solid experience and working knowledge of the marketing field, web graphic/development and online media. Knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Professional knowledge of news writing and/or journalism. Familiarity with photo/video cameras (digital and standard) required. Understand prioritization in a rapidly changing work environment. Possess excellent communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Ability to operate computers, laptops, tablets, and other basic office equipment. Experience with Adobe software: Photoshop, Page maker, InDesign and Illustrator' are required. Current Driver's license required. Subject to a satisfactory completion of a National Agency Check.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
