Duties

Help
  • Serves as a developmental Intelligence Specialist (Operations) specializing in Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) exploitation.
  • Participates in Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) exploitation for analysis in a given area of interest. Participates in intelligence production, to include retrieval and processing data, preparing graphics, performing analysis, and drafting reports.
  • Performs geo-spatial analysis using Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) applications.
  • Assists other analysts in the processing and exploitation of all types of Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) data.
  • Participates in the field of operational GEOINT processing, exploitation, and dissemination (PED).

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel may be required 25% or less of the time.
  • Required to undergo a pre-appointment and annual physical.
  • Designated Key Position: This position has been identified as being a Key Position under the provisions of AR 690-11, Use and Management of Civilian Personnel in Support of Military Contingency Operations. See Additional Information below.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:
1. Experience participating in intelligence production, to include retrieval and processing data, preparing graphics, and drafting reports. AND
2. Experience performing geo-spatial analysis using Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) applications. AND
3. Assisting other analysts in the processing and exploitation of all types of Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) data.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
